Undoubtedly moving
around Brazil by air is the most expensive variant
but at the same time certainly the fastest and the most convenient.
There is an airport or at least an airstrip in every city in Brazil,
some of them are a bit far from the city but it's not typical. In
cities with airstrips such service as aerotaxi (small plain) is
provided. But before you decide to flight by aerotaxi, you should know
that this is rather dangerous as far as these plains usually are
overcrowded with people and you cannot rely on a pilot's qualification
at least because it's very seldom checked.
If you travel Brazil and you think over something more economical than
plain but at the same time comfortable, we suggest that you use bus.
Bus system in Brazil considered to be really good and reliable. There
are hundreds of private bus companies in Brazil but still prices
correspond to standards and don't vary much. Long-distance buses have
seats which are quite comfortable for night sleep, buses are also
equipped with on-board toilets but during a long trips they can get
really smelly. Buses usually stop every 2 or 3 hours at postos where
you can have a meal or buy something but prices in postos usually very
high, that's why we suggest that you think about water and food you'll
need during your trip beforehand. There are also leitos (luxury buses)
in Brazil. The price of such bus is two or three times higher in
comparison with ordinary long-distance bus and undoubtedly these luxury
buses are much more comfortable. Notice that leitos are less frequent
and if you decided to go by such bus, we suggest that you book tickets
in advance.
You can also move around the country by train, when you travel Brazil.
It's necessary to say that trains are less comfortable and much slower
than buses.
In case you want to experience some adventures when you travel Brazil,
you can choose self-drive and hire a car or motorbike in order to move
around Brazil. However before you decide to go by car, you should make
sure
that you know enough about traffic regulation in Brazil. It's rather
dangerous to move around the country by car. Notice that there are few
service stations outside of cities so make sure that you have enough
fuel and cash as far as credit cards are not excepted on service
stations. Don't forget to take maps
of Brazil in order not to get lost
and don't wast your time.
City buses, underground and taxi are the best means of transportation
to move inside any city. Notice that city buses are always overcrowded
and there are lots of pickpockets. You should also remember that in
order to stop city bus, you'll have to wave a driver otherwise he won't
stop. City taxies are not very expensive and at the same time it's much
better to take a taxi than walk along a city at night or use night
buses.
