This endless stream of immigrants gave rise to industrialization. In 1889 with the help of “coffee” aristocracy military revolution occurred in Brazil and Empire of Brazil was ruined. During the next forty years the country was governed by different presidents, all of them were military men. Hight level of inflation and unstable political situation in the country caused economic crisis.

In 1984 the law in favour of direct elections was passed. It's also necessary to mention that voters resolved not to restore the previous Brazilian constitutional monarchy.
